Advanced Products and Systems Division (APSD) was established in the year 2000, to lead in the development of concepts, technology, and products in the areas of electromechanical power conversion and power electronics. A major focus is the integration of power and control electronics with electric and electromechanical devices to provide products to meet new or existing customer needs.
Our highly experienced technical workforce provides assembly and test expertise in mechanical, electromechanical, electrical, and electronic (power and control) equipment. System simulation, control system design, system integration, control software, and power conversion expertise, combined with our equipment design skills, provide an ideal environment to develop electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components and systems for defense and commercial markets.
| APSD personnel includes experts with extensive theoretical/analytical skills as well as experience with application engineering and design for manufacture in such diverse fields as: |
Electronic Drive Systems
- Power Converter and Power Conditioning Systems
- Electronic Controls
- Electric Motors and Generators
- Superconducting Power Equipment
- Energy Storage and Pulsed Power Systems
- Electromechanical and Electronic Systems
- Electromechanical/Electronic System Simulation
|
Current programs include pulsed power for the Army’s Electromagnetic Gun, energy storage components for Electro-Magnetic Assisted Launch Systems (EMALS), and a specialized motor/generator for Navy’s next generation turbo-electric Advanced Arresting Gear.
